August - 2020 - Sarah Hummel

This is someone I'm very excited to introduce you all to...though honestly I'm excited to introduce everyone!
Sarah is PA native and has lived in DuBois since she was 8. She is 42 and as been married to her husband, Kevin, for 13 years. She has two daughters, Mckayla 22, and Caroline 10.
She has been doing title work for real estate for 10 ½ years. The past 4 of those she's been working for herself as the owner and title agent at Key Settlement Services.
Sarah's history with fitness began when she was in 7th grade and her dad opened a martial arts studio when. She trained then with him and has done it ever since continuing to this day! She then got into running. She's run numerous races including a couple ultra marathons, 1 marathon and many tough mudders and spartans. Before DuBois CrossFit opened she and her good friend Meri (our May athlete of the month) would meet in Sarah's garage gym that they'd set up. Every morning they both wished the other would cancel, but they wouldn't so held each other accountable! She was our first committed member!!
What's her drive/motivation for all this fitness? FOMO!!! Sarah's all about the good times and doesn't want the fun to be had without her! If that answer surprises you you're not alone😂 Not all of us would be driven to these measures for a good time!
She loves CrossFit because it pushes her outside of her comfort zone and she's in a bad mood if she doesn't get to get it in.
Her favorite WOD is hot shot 19. Her fitness goals are to be able to do a muscle up. She also wants to prolong the longevity and quality of her life. She wants to be able to run around with her grandkids. (None exist yet, but on a side note her real life's goal now is to be a grandma.)
If she were to give advice to anyone who's just started or is on the outside wanting to join, but kinda concerned we're all just crazy, she would say, "Don't overthink it. Just do it. You gotta walk before you run. None of us walked in here being able to just do these skills or lift heavy weight. You build up to it. People are kind, encouraging and just getting in there trying to be better-no judging!"
Sarah brings passion and enthusiasm with her. She's part of our committed and aptly dubbed "Rooster Crew" that comes to the 5:30 am class. She brings the friendly competition to box, but will also be your biggest cheerleader when you need to push through those last reps! We are so thankful to have her as a member of the DuBois CrossFit family and hope you come in to meet her and get a workout in…though if you want to do that you'll have to visit the rooster crew;)
